The Englishman, Thomas Nugent, observed with surprise when passing through Westphalia in the mid-eighteenth century: “There is one thing very particular to them, that they do not cover themselves with bedclothes, but lay one feather-bed over, and another under. This is comfortable enough in winter, but how they can bear their feather-beds over them in summer, as is generally practiced, I cannot conceive”.

This is the first documented mention of the duvet in history. Nowadays, the duvet can obviously be found in more places than just Westphalia, everyone has one. Duvets need not be expensive anymore either, if one employs some duvet and pillow warehouse discount codes to knock a bit off the total price. Duvets are wonderful as they reduce the complexity of making a bed which can become so very tiresome. If one does not employ a duvet, it becomes necessary to deal with a combination of quilts, blankets, and bed sheets, as opposed to the simplistic and solitary duvet.
